A Branded Environments team within an international Architecture and Design studio are looking for a senior designer/design director to lead and inspire a team of 5, from senior to junior. We are looking for 2 people at this level.
The facts:
The agency works in Wayfinding, Placemaking and Visual Identity and you must have wayfinding design experience to deliver what’s needed in this role. It has a high quality design aesthetic, on a par with the best London design studios.
Day to Day you will be delivering high-quality, innovative and thought-provoking wayfinding and signage design systems for clients, mainly in culture and placemaking.
You will be designing around 20-30% of the time. The rest of the time you will be leading, mentoring and providing inspiration.
You get to develop your senior management and stakeholder experience. You will manage up and down and help a senior director to deliver the vision of the agency.
You’ll have:
- A beautiful portfolio of work showing design and wayfinding in culture and the built environment
- 7+ years experience as a Wayfinding designer
- A track record of being highly organised and experienced in project management and client liaison
- Full Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Indesign). Other softwares are a bonus – (eg. Rhino, but not a must-have).
You’ll be:
- A really clear and straightforward but sensitive communicator.
- Able to have a healthy and productive client conversation
- Happy to lead. You can make difficult decisions and keep people with you. You can work thoughtfully, and at times this will be at pace.
- Steering and course-correcting on the team’s design work
- Open to working on cultural projects in the UK, APAC and the Middle East.
- Able to travel a little, when needed.
- Culturally curious. You and your team need to be inspired and you can lead and feed this (creative trips and activities), which makes the team work better.
- Highly organised and like structure.
- Happy to contribute to RFP responses and pitches.
- Planning, coordinating and managing the project process. You like to see the design vision realised in the correct way.
- A good presenter to clients.
- Commercially aware. You don’t shy away from numbers and making budgets work.
- Able to learn to navigate systems and data.
